Notifications
How MentorStack tells you about matches, meetings, and goals: the notification bell, email, Slack or Teams, and push.
MentorStack can reach you in four ways: the in-app bell, email, a Slack or Teams direct message, and browser push. You don't have to use all of them, and which ones apply depends on what your organization has connected.
The Notification Bell
The bell icon in the top navigation shows your unread count and opens a dropdown of recent activity, split into an Unread and an All tab. Notifications are grouped by what triggered them: match status changes, meetings, goals, engagement alerts, badges, and system messages. For a longer history than the dropdown holds, open the full Notifications page from the bell.
MentorStack also sends some of these same events by email. Go to Your Profile & Account for how to see and adjust which emails you receive.
Slack and Teams
If your organization is on the Starter plan or higher and your admin has connected Slack or Teams, you'll receive direct messages for the events you choose. From Settings → Notifications, a Your Notification Preferences card lets you toggle each of these independently:
- Match Status Changes: when a match is accepted or declined
- Meeting Reminders: before upcoming meetings
- Goal Milestones: when milestones are completed
- Engagement Alerts: when a match becomes inactive
If your organization hasn't connected Slack or Teams yet, this section simply won't appear for you, an admin can connect one from the same Settings page.
Note
DMs only reach you once your account is linked to your Slack or Teams identity by email. If you're connected but not receiving DMs, ask your admin to re-sync users, or check that your MentorStack email matches your workspace email.
Push Notifications and the Installable App
MentorStack works as an installable app (a PWA). On Android or desktop, an install banner offers quick access and message alerts; on iPhone, add it manually from Safari's Share menu, then Add to Home Screen.
Once installed, or even in a regular browser tab, you can turn on push notifications from Settings. Your browser will ask you to grant notification permission, so decide before you click, since you generally only get one chance to grant it per device. Once enabled, each subscribed device is listed under Push Notification Devices, where you can remove one at any time, for example after retiring an old phone or laptop.
