Setting Your Mentoring Capacity
Choose how many mentees you can mentor at once, and turn new-mentee availability on or off from your profile.
Your capacity is the most mentees you want to mentor at one time. MentorStack uses it to decide whether to suggest you to new mentees and whether it can add you to a new match. You control it from your profile.
Change your capacity
- Open Profile in the sidebar.
- Scroll to the Mentoring Availability card. It appears only for members with the mentor role.
- Turn Available for new mentees on. When it is off, you do not appear in mentee recommendations, and the capacity field is hidden.
- Enter a number under Maximum mentees at one time. The allowed range is 1 to 20.
- Click Save Changes in the bar that appears at the bottom of the page.
The card shows how many slots you use, for example "You have 2 of 3 mentee slots filled". That count covers your active matches.
Note
If you never set a number, MentorStack uses your organization's default mentor capacity. Admins set that default in Settings → Program → Matching. See Configuring Matching.
What counts toward your capacity
When MentorStack checks whether you can take another mentee, it counts the mentees in your active and pending matches. A group match counts every mentee in it, and a new group member counts as one more. If adding a mentee would put you over your maximum, the request is blocked. A mentor at capacity shows At capacity in the mentor directory.
Lowering your capacity below your current mentees
If you set a maximum lower than the number of mentees you already have, the card shows a warning. Your current mentorships continue. You simply are not matched with anyone new until your active count drops below the limit.
Tip
Take a break from new matches without ending anything by turning Available for new mentees off. Turn it back on when you have room. Your existing matches are not affected.
