Accepting Your Invitation and Signing In

How to accept a MentorStack invitation, create your account, and sign in with a password, SSO, or two-factor authentication.

Your program admin invites you by email. The invitation link takes you to a page where you create your account or, if you already have one, join the organization. After that, you sign in at any time from the sign-in page.

Accept an invitation if you are new to MentorStack

  1. Open the link in your invitation email.
  2. On the Join page you see the organization name and the role you were invited as. Enter your Full name.
  3. Check the Email field. It is filled in from your invitation and you cannot change it.
  4. Choose a Password. It needs at least 12 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character. A strength bar shows how strong it is, and the eye icon shows or hides what you typed.
  5. Optional: tick Send me product updates and feature announcements. It is off by default.
  6. Click Join followed by your organization name. By clicking it you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which the page links to.

MentorStack creates your account and signs you in. You land on your organization dashboard. You do not need to verify your email separately, because the invitation already proves you own the address.

Note

If the page asks for a bot check, complete it before the join button becomes active. If the check does not load, the page tells you to disable your ad blocker or contact support@mentorstack.co (opens in new tab).

Accept an invitation if you already have an account

  1. Open the invitation link. If you are not signed in, you reach the Join page. Click Sign in under the form.
  2. Sign in. You return to a card titled Join followed by the organization name, with your role shown as a badge.
  3. Click Join Organization.

Admins go to the dashboard after joining. Mentors and mentees go to their Profile page.

Warning

Sign in with the same email address the invitation was sent to. If you use a different address, MentorStack shows "This invitation was sent to a different email address". An email address can also belong to only one organization. If yours is already in another organization, you see "This email is already associated with an existing organization."

  • Invitation Expired: invitations are valid for 7 days. Ask your program admin to send a new one.
  • Invitation Revoked: your admin withdrew the invitation. Ask them to send a new one.
  • Invalid Invitation: the link was already used or is incorrect. Check that you copied the whole link.
  • Missing Invitation: the page opened without a link token. Use the link from your email.

Note

Organizations on the Free Pilot have a fixed member limit. If every seat is taken when you try to join, the join fails with a plan-limit message. Ask your admin to free a seat or change the plan.

Sign in with email and password

Go to the sign-in page, titled Welcome back.

  1. Enter your Email and Password.
  2. Click Sign in.

If you forgot your password, click Forgot password? next to the password field. A wrong email or password shows "Invalid email or password".

Sign in with SSO

If your organization uses single sign-on, SSO is available on the Growth plan and above.

  1. On the sign-in page, click Sign in with SSO.
  2. Enter your Organization ID, the short name you see in your MentorStack web address, such as acme-corp.
  3. Click Continue. MentorStack sends you to your identity provider to sign in.

If SSO is not set up for your organization, the page says "SSO isn't set up for this organization. Contact your admin." If your organization enforces SSO, a password sign-in shows "Your organization requires SSO login. Please contact your admin."

Sign in with two-factor authentication

If you turned on two-factor authentication, a second step follows your password.

  1. Open your authenticator app and read the 6-digit code.
  2. Enter it under Authentication code.
  3. Click Verify.

If you lost your device, click Use a recovery code, enter one of the recovery codes you saved, and click Verify. Each recovery code works once.

If your admin requires two-factor authentication and you have not set it up, MentorStack shows Set up two-factor authentication after you sign in. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, or click Can't scan? Enter manually. Enter the 6-digit code and click Verify and enable. Then save your recovery codes with Copy codes or Download as .txt, tick I have saved my recovery codes, and continue.

For more on two-factor authentication, see Security. For password and profile settings, see Account.
