AI & MCP
Your AI assistant, connected
MentorStack ships a native MCP server so AI assistants can query your program data directly: no exports, no custom code.
Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot & more
Native MCP connection: query program data, summaries, and analytics from any of these AI assistants.
Any MCP-aware assistant
Open MCP server: works with any AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol.
MCP Server
Your AI assistant, now program-aware
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to external data sources. MentorStack ships a native MCP server. This means Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants can query your program data in plain English, without any custom integrations or data exports.
Connect once, then ask your AI assistant anything about your program. It reads live data (sessions, goals, cohorts, engagement metrics) and responds instantly.
Example queries you can ask your AI assistant:
“Who are the top-performing mentors in the current cohort?”
“Show me mentees who haven't logged a session in the last 3 weeks.”
“What are the most common goals across the Q2 program?”
“Summarize engagement trends for the engineering department.”
Compatible with Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants.

Common integration questions
- How does HRIS sync work?
- MentorStack connects via an API key or service account credentials. Run a sync on demand, or configure your HRIS to push changes to MentorStack. BambooHR validated; Workday and SAP SuccessFactors adapters are available for validation with your tenant. HRIS sync is available on Growth+ plans.
- How do Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications work?
- Connect Slack or Teams (one at a time) via OAuth to receive session reminders, match notifications, and goal milestone alerts as direct messages. Notifications are sent automatically: no manual configuration per participant required.
- Does MentorStack support SSO and SAML?
- Yes. MentorStack supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on via WorkOS on Growth+ plans. Connect to any SAML-compliant identity provider, including Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Google Workspace.
- Is there a REST API?
- Not a general-purpose REST API today. MentorStack ships a native MCP (Model Context Protocol) server instead, which lets AI assistants and other MCP-compatible tools query program data directly. Any org member generates their own API key from their account settings, no admin required. See the next question for details.
- What is the MCP server and how do I connect it?
- The MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is a native integration that lets Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants connect directly to your MentorStack program data. Generate an API key from your own account settings, configure it in your AI assistant's MCP settings, and you can query sessions, goals, cohorts, and engagement data in plain English: no exports or custom code required. These and other MCP clients can also connect over OAuth with dynamic client registration, no key to copy.
