MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to external data sources. MentorStack ships a native MCP server. This means Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants can query your program data in plain English, without any custom integrations or data exports.
Connect once, then ask your AI assistant anything about your program. It reads live data (sessions, goals, cohorts, engagement metrics) and responds instantly.

Common integration questions
- How does HRIS sync work?
- MentorStack connects via an API key or service account credentials. Run a sync on demand, or configure your HRIS to push changes to MentorStack. BambooHR validated; Workday and SAP SuccessFactors adapters are available for validation with your tenant. HRIS sync is available on Growth+ plans.
- How do Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications work?
- Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications arrive as direct messages once an admin connects one of them through OAuth. You connect Slack or Teams, one at a time, and session reminders, match notifications, and goal milestone alerts send automatically with no manual configuration per participant. Direct message delivery requires the Starter plan or above.
- Does MentorStack support SSO and SAML?
- MentorStack supports SAML and OpenID Connect single sign-on through WorkOS on Growth and above plans. It connects to any SAML or OpenID Connect identity provider, including Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Google Workspace. Free Pilot and Starter organizations do not include SAML single sign-on, so plan the upgrade to Growth if your security team requires it.
- Is there a REST API?
- Not a general-purpose REST API today. MentorStack ships a native MCP (Model Context Protocol) server instead, which lets AI assistants and other MCP-compatible tools query program data directly. Any org member generates their own API key from their account settings, no admin required. See the next question for details.
- What is the MCP server and how do I connect it?
- The MCP server is a native MentorStack integration that lets Claude, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, and other MCP-compatible assistants query your live program data. Generate an API key in your account settings and add it to your assistant’s MCP settings. That route always works. OAuth with PKCE is also available for clients a signed-in MentorStack user registers and approves.
