Finding a Mentor

Browse the Mentors directory, filter by skill, seniority, and availability, and request a mentor directly.

Some organizations let mentees choose their own mentor instead of waiting to be matched by an admin. When yours does, a Mentors item appears in your sidebar.

When This Page Appears

The Mentors directory only shows up when both are true: your organization uses Self-Select matching, and your admin has turned on mentor discovery. If you don't see Mentors in your navigation, your program uses Admin-Guided matching instead, where an admin creates matches for you, or discovery simply isn't enabled yet. At the top of the page, a Recommended for you rail surfaces mentors MentorStack thinks are a good fit, based on your profile and what you're working toward. You can request directly from this rail or keep browsing below it.

Browsing and Filtering

Below the recommendations, the full directory lets you:

  • Search by name or bio
  • Filter by skill, using the same skill picker you use on your own profile
  • Filter by seniority: Junior, Mid-level, Senior, Lead, Director, VP, or C-Level
  • Filter by availability day: pick the days of the week a mentor is available

Combine filters freely. Clearing them all returns you to the full list.

Requesting a Mentor

Each mentor's card has a Request Mentorship button. Confirming sends a mentorship request and notifies the mentor; you'll see Request pending on their card until they respond. If a mentor declines your request, that same mentor becomes requestable again after 90 days.

Tip

A pending request doesn't stop you from requesting a different mentor while you wait. There's no limit on how many requests you can have open at once, only on how many active matches you can hold.

Mentor Capacity

Your organization sets a maximum number of active mentor matches per mentee. If you're already at that limit, the page tells you and asks you to complete or end a current match before requesting a new one. This cap protects the depth of your existing relationships as much as it does a mentor's time.
