Post-Match Kickoff

A first-meeting checklist, built into every match

Once a match is active, MentorStack shows both people a welcome card on the match page. It lists the first steps and ticks each one off as it happens.

What the kickoff card does

Welcome card on the match page

Each participant sees a welcome card on the match overview. It names their partner and shows the written reason the pair was matched, when one exists.

Three-step checklist for mentees

Mentees see: review your match, schedule your first meeting, set a goal together. Each step links to the right tab of the match page.

Two-step checklist for mentors

Mentors see: review your match and schedule your first meeting. The goal step is for the mentee to start.

Steps tick themselves

The meeting step ticks when the match has a scheduled or completed meeting. The goal step ticks when the match has any goal. Nobody has to mark them done.

A prompt to set the first goal

If a mentee has no goal yet, a prompt appears once the match has a first meeting or is seven days old. The mentee can dismiss it.

In-app only

The kickoff card lives on the match page. It does not send its own email or push message.

Why a kickoff step exists

A match that never gets a first meeting or a first goal is easy to miss in a long participant list. The kickoff card puts the next step in front of each participant.

It supports a mentoring program that is growing past what one coordinator can chase by hand. It does not replace admin follow-up. For matches that go quiet, admins have a separate nudge on the at-risk matches widget.

Common questions

What is the post-match kickoff card?
The kickoff card is a welcome card on the match overview that appears once a match is active. It names the partner, shows the written reason the pair was matched when one exists, and lists the first steps. Each step ticks itself off as it happens, so nobody has to mark anything done.
What steps do mentors and mentees see?
Mentees see three steps: review the match, schedule the first meeting, and set a goal together. Mentors see two steps: review the match and schedule the first meeting, because the goal step is for the mentee to start. Each step links to the right tab of the match page.
How do the kickoff steps get marked as done?
Steps tick on their own. The meeting step ticks when the match has a scheduled or completed meeting, and the goal step ticks when the match has any goal. If a mentee has no goal yet, a prompt appears once the match has a first meeting or is seven days old, and the mentee can dismiss it.
Does the kickoff card send email or push messages?
The kickoff card is in-app only. It lives on the match page and does not send its own email or push message. It also does not replace admin follow-up. For matches that go quiet, admins have a separate nudge on the at-risk matches widget of the dashboard.
